Looking for a summer job that’s more than just a paycheck?
At Camp Carysbrook, you’ll join a supportive and empowering work environment where you’ll make a meaningful difference in the lives of girls and young women—while building real-world skills that will serve you far beyond the summer.
As a member of our diverse, multicultural team, you’ll grow professionally and personally, gaining experience in communication, leadership, time management, and collaboration. Many of our staff also explore opportunities for independent study or paid internships in areas such as education, business, marketing, outdoor leadership, communications, psychology, and social work. Just ask—we’re happy to help you tailor your summer to meet your academic or professional goals.
In your dual role as a counselor in a cabin and at an activity, you’ll develop emotional intelligence and leadership skills that are highly valued in any field—all while having fun in the great outdoors with a team of women committed to being a positive force in the lives of girls ages 6–16.
Staff Training
Before campers arrive, you’ll participate in a week-long staff orientation, designed to set you up for success. You’ll receive hands-on training, build relationships with your fellow staff members, and immerse yourself in the rich traditions of Camp Carysbrook. You’ll also have the opportunity to earn certifications such as Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED.
Our Team
You’ll work alongside some of the most dedicated, talented, and fun people you’ll ever meet—returning staff, former campers, new recruits, and people who simply wish they had found Carysbrook sooner. No matter where we come from, we all share one goal: to help each camper discover her own strengths, face new challenges, and grow in confidence and character.
Time Off
We know that rest is essential, too. You’ll get time each day to decompress (and at least once a week, you’ll cover for others so they can, too). Each week includes a 24-hour break when you’re free to leave camp—grab dinner with friends, rest, shop, or explore the beautiful New River Valley. Whether you want to go tubing, hiking, rock climbing, or just relax, there’s always someone else off-duty to join you.
